I was born and bred on a sheep and beef farm in the King Country of New Zealand. My passion for woodturning began with many wonderful childhood hours spent turning with my grandfather. I am strongly influenced by my agricultural background, and draw my inspiration for turning from all aspects of life around me.

I believe it’s important to change with the times, and I am always looking for opportunities to learn and expand my knowledge and skills.

In 2002 I broke my back.

This was life changing and led to a career in wood art.

WHAT I MAKE

Although I feel a strong affinity to functional turned goods it is Artistic work that really motivates and excites me. My artistic work ranges from wooden cowboy hats that can be worn to full sized abstract sculptural pieces.

WHERE TO NEXT?

I am proud to be a 5th Generation New Zealander and identify strongly with my family heritage and the traditions of the land. With this as my base I am driven to explore the relationships between traditions in wood and our dynamic culture of innovation and art.
